Think like a merchant
When you shop, things are staged to be within your line of vision. Use wicker or wire baskets to fill your pantry shelves. Place the items you reach for the most at eye level. If you want your kids to reach for fruit instead of chips, put the fruit on their eye level. Make the most of your pantry. The inside of the door should have hooks for plastic or cloth bags. Have your builder make you a rolling small appliance cabinet. Just like a pantry on wheels, your cabinet has shelves for the microwave, toaster, blender, and mixer with vertical wire racks to hold them in place. He will attach a surge protector on the back of the cabinet. All your appliances plug into the surge protector and you are ready to go with one plug.
